More Ao Dai on The Strip (Set 1)

White seems to be the "it" color this year.  Out of  ~ 40 contestants, about a dozen chose to wear white.  I'm surprised no one wore yellow or gold, which used to be the traditional Vietnamese favorite for ao dai.

Contestant #1, Anna Ngoc Anh Tran from Florida, allowed Audrey to use her laptop to work on and submit homework via email from Las Vegas while Audrey's buggy computer was being repaired by the Best Buy Geek Squad.

Contestant #2, Bella Qui Truong from Massachusetts

Contestant #3, Sara Phung Nguyen from Calgary, Canada on check-in day.  We have no photos of her from the ao dai competition.

Contestant #4, Xuan Mai Le from France

Contestant #5, Hien Ngoc T. Le from England

Contestant #6, Haley Hoa Ngoc Bui from New York

Audrey's roommate from Vietnam, Hang Ngoc Tra.  Audrey said she's super nice!

Contestant #8, Dien Thuy Nguyen from Georgia

Contestant #10, Thanh Thien Ngoc Pham from Vietnam, gave a scathing interview on SBTN (Saigon Broadcasting Television Network) about her experiences with the pageant.

I couldn't figure out whether Contestant #11 was Vivian Ngo from Arlington, Texas or Vy Nguyen from San Jose, California.

Unless I'm totally mistaken, this is a photo of Nhung Trang Nguyen, a celebrity contestant from Vietnam.  I have no idea why she had different numbers and countries of representation on her sash.  In other photos, she was #18 from Vietnam!  The contestants were allowed to declare which country they wanted to represent, however, so maybe Trang Nhung changed her mind somewhere along the line.

Trang Nhung is a professional beauty queen selected and sponsored by PL Models, a Vietnamese modeling agency, to represent them in the 2010 Miss Vietnam Global Pageant.  She's such a chameleon and looks different in every photo!

What's with the hair??

Contestant #13, Ngoc Kim Valerie Nguyen from France

Contestant #15, Nicole Nguyen from Niles, Illinois

Contestant #16, Janina Dieu Huong Tran from Canada

Contestant #17, Vy Mai from California.  Based on the pictures I've seen, she could've won Miss Photogenic!

Contestant #19, Bao Anh Do from West Palm Beach, Florida.  Audrey seemed to remember her placing among the Top 5 in last year's contest.

Contestant #21, Diem Ngoc Tran from Westminster, California

Contestant #22, Amy Huong Le from Harvey, Louisiana

Amy made me cry when she teared up during her SBTN interview upon mentioning her mom's death.  The pageant cancellation was only "a minor disappointment and inconvenience," she said, since the worst thing in her life has already happened when her mom passed away two years ago.
